“Champions and Promotion”
Arnold Town Girls & Ladies FC is proud to announce that their Ladies Second Team were crowned Champions of the Nottinghamshire Girls & Ladies Football League, Senior division on May 29th, following a comprehensive 5-0 win over local rivals Sherwood Youth Ladies FC.
There was even more to celebrate at the end of season awards night with confirmation that the team had been promoted to the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League, Division 1 North. They will be entered as “Arnold Town Development” with the First Team playing in the Premier Division.
This is the first time that two Arnold teams have competed in this league and is a fantastic achievement for the management and players of the Second Team. “The Club’s player development programme is beginning to pay off” commented Harry Harriss, Chairperson, “and we are delighted that 80% of the players in these two squads have spent all, or most of their careers at Arnold. “
The First Team squad included several under 18s, the youngest being just 16 years old and the Second Team was largely under 18s. For the coming season we will have a third senior squad and it will be competing in the Senior division of the Notts Girls & Ladies league.
Preseason is underway with the start of next season only 9 weeks away.
