Growing the Game

Posted by Richard Povey on 25 July 2018

Arnold Eagles Girls and Ladies Football Club are delighted to announce that they will be continuing to grow the club and offer football to more female participants following the award of a £3000 grant from The Football Association.

The grant, which will provide a boost to grassroots female football in Arnold and surrounding areas, has paved the way for Arnold Eagles to launch at least 2 new girls  and ladies teams in season 2018/2019 and will also provide for coaches to take their coaching badges to help to provide fully qualified coaches for all of our teams. We have had a total of 55 girls new to football, attend our 'Wildcats' sessions this year and had over 60 players attending our mini soccer training recently, reflecting our commitment to Girls and Ladies football.

Arnold Eagles would like to thank the Football Foundation and Notts FA who helped to secure the club a Grow the Game grant. Playing in an all-female team from a young age is key to the development of our players, and we are delighted that there will be more opportunities for women and girls in the local area as a result of this grant.

Grow the Game is a programme funded by The FA and delivered by the Football Foundation. It awards grants to grassroots football clubs wishing to create new teams, especially amongst under-represented groups.

This year, £1,500 was made available for clubs looking to create new female and disability football teams to help towards the costs of FA coaching courses; FA league affiliation costs; referees’ fees; first aid kits; football kit and equipment.
