First Vs Notts County Devs

Our Arnold Eagles 1st team made it two wins in two with a hard fought 2-0 victory away at Notts County Development yesterday afternoon at the Southglade Football Hub.
Having played a pre season friendly against the same opponents just a few weeks ago we knew that this fixture was going to be a tough one, and so it proved.
Despite being a very young side Notts Devs are well coached, very energetic and have pace and skill throughout their side.
The first third of the game was tight as both teams defended well and apart from a couple of chances for each team the deadlock wasn’t broken.
However, on the half hour mark the Eagles took the lead after a defensive mix up released Tasha who expertly fired into the bottom right hand corner of the net.
For the rest of the half and first 10 minutes of the 2nd half we were in total control of the game. Our possession was good and in turn we were able to snuff out any County attacks without really threatening to get that much needed second goal.
Our ladies were rocked around the hour mark by a couple of unfortunate and accidental injuries to both Emma and Amy. As a result we lost a bit of composure, our levels slipped and we allowed County back into the game as they became increasingly dangerous and pushed for an equaliser.
Fortunately Ciára and the back three of Fiona, Chloe and Holly held firm and we were able to weather the often self inflicted pressure we were bringing on ourselves.
Fortunately for us a good attacking spell resulted in numerous set pieces and from one of Ellie-Mae’s quality deliveries captain Demi lost her marker to power an unstoppable header into the net.
2-0 to the Eagles and we had the cushion we needed and were able to see out the remainder of the game without any hairy moments and secure our 2nd three point haul of the season which sees the ladies sit top of the league at this very early stage.
POTM from our opposition went to Tasha for her goal and being a constant threat.
