Match reports

U8 v Mansfield Town

Player of the Match - GEORGIA

U9 v Mansfield Town

Today's game saw players trying out new positions to normal as we are trying to help them understand the different roles in the game. We had Ella and Clio working well up front, linking passes, but also battling in the tackles. Clio was player of the match for never giving up. Isla L's running on the ball and linking play was excellent today. Freya also had a turn up front and impressed us receiving passes and going past the opposition. Hattie worked well in defence, staying calm and holding the line. Faith acted as a sweeper at times and strongly defended whenever the other team attacked. Esme took the ball past players numerous times and linked up well for some excellent passes. Libby was very strong both going past players and linking up passes going forward. Isla Y was everywhere on the field today - loads of energy and lots of tackling. Our goalies both did well today. Cerys watched the game carefully and made a save from a shot which took a difficult bounce. Holly made some excellent saves, diving on the ball as we have practised in training. Overall, Eagles U9 showed some brilliant passages of play in all areas of the field. Well played team!

U10 v Southwell City

Excellent game with some strong challenges and good passes going on. Both teams made it very competitive.

U11 v Woodlands

Both teams today played really well, showing great resilience till the final whistle. There were some fantastic diving saves from Chloe. The defence was on form with some excellent clearances from the girls. Midfield and up front had some long runs towards the goal with accurate passes between the girls, to get round the opposition defence. One of these girls was the Player of the Match, Annie who helped the girls hold their shape and keep the ball moving.

U12 Lightning v Ravenshead

The final score was a draw at 1-1.

We had 24 chances to score, 12 shots were on target but only 1 goal scored. The girls were gutted, they’re getting more competitive week by week so it’s good for them to experience the feelings they did today and Ravenshead did deserve their goal, they worked hard for it. I’ve asked the girls to remember the positives of their performance but also how they felt when Ravenshead scored the equaliser and what they could have done differently… some comedy answers I won’t repeat but they can’t wait to play again.

Girl of the Game went to Sienna for her incredible work rate, crucial tackles, tracking, sprinting, clearing and communication. Sienna has been consistent in all games, a safe pair of feet in defence and her support is bar none. She has run a marathon today and saved the Team from potential goals many many times. Sienna is a fantastic footballer and her determination to perform for her team mates makes her one of the best team players. I wouldn’t want to go against her, her timing is precise and her tackle hard and strong!

U13 v West Bridgford

A tough morning for the U13 girls today. The Robin Hood half marathon gave us all a frustrating and very lengthy trip over to Dunkirk to play West Bridgford and it clearly took its toll as we found ourselves 3-0 down within minutes of the whistle.

The game unfolded in the same vein, West Bridgford attacked and sensed the visitors were there for the taking and they were right as they registered 8 without reply.

Indeed if it had not been for an inspired display of goalkeeping and bravery from Maddie that scoreline could’ve doubled... and it was only the halfway point.

Arnold certainly rallied in the second half and started the half brightly only for West Bridgford to come back with a couple of quick fire goals that ruined any outside chance of an Arnold revival. Three more followed, one of which was a stunning 25 yard strike that flew over Maddie and into the top corner. The final score stood at 13-0 and it was a tough game for the girls to play in. GIRL OF THE GAME - MADDIE

U18 v Mickleover Sports

Brilliant performance by the U18’s from start to finish. I asked for a reaction after last week and boy did I get one. Every player (all 13 of them were unbelievable.

Work rate, skill, passing and game management a different level to what I’ve witnessed from this group until now. A performance to be proud of. Goals from Evie Seadon (20yd free kick), Lucy and Saffie.
