Charity day is a success

Arnold Town Ladies hosted their first invitational charity football event last Sunday which saw Leicester City Women Reserves leave with the Pete Willans memorial trophy, beating both Arnold first and Second team as well as Oadby & Wigston Ladies.
All the games were played in the right spirit and seemed to provide a good test before the league and cup fixtures start in September. Not only was it a great advert for Womens football but we are happy to announce that at least £200 was raised for Cancer charities, one of which is the Arnold Town Ladies official charity, the Pink Ribbon Foundation.
It was decided by the players that we should support a charity this season and with our new kit manufacturers EV2, we have been able to add the Pink Ribbon logo to the back of the players shirts. More photos from the day can be found in the photo gallery.
The Ladies football competition was followed by a host of local footballing legends putting on their boots again as a Nottingham United side beat Leicester City on penalties following a gripping and highly entertaining 3-3 draw.
The Ladies section would like to thank all the players who took part, the volunteers who have worked hard to set the day up and the referees and officials that also gave their time.
