Arnold Eagles was formed in 2017 by experienced officials from Arnold Town Girls & Ladies FC. Most of the junior players moved with their managers. Now the two Ladies teams have followed suit for season 2018/2019.
Arnold Eagles is delighted to announce that we will have 2 senior teams in the coming season. Arnold Eagles U18’s move up to senior level to become Arnold Eagles Women Gold and the former Arnold Town Ladies Development Team and Arnold Town Ladies First Team who both played in the East Midlands Women’s Regional League last season merge to become Arnold Eagles Women Maroon. Both teams will play in the Nottinghamshire Girls & Ladies League in 2018/19. Both sides will play their home games at Calverton Miners Welfare, on Hollinwood Lane, Calverton.
Arnold Eagles Women Maroon Manager, Neil Matthews said “I am really pleased that the Eagles are now all together for 2018/19, the move from Arnold Town was not an easy one and we are, of course, hugely disappointed to lose our regional league places. We did try to hold on to them by following a process as advised by the FA which was ultimately unsuccessful. However, it is fair to say that the financial burden of remaining at Arnold Town and differences in how we believe the women’s game should be developed mean that the move is 100% the right decision for our players.
The Club aims to return at least one of the senior Eagles teams to the regional level at the earliest opportunity and the players are already working hard in pre-season to improve on the great foundation that were built last season. Calverton Miners Welfare have made us very welcome and this already feels like home.
There is a real buzz around the Arnold Eagles and that isn’t just about the seniors. It ranges from the fantastic work being done with our Wildcats weekly sessions, and through all the Arnold Eagles junior teams we run from under 8 to under 16.”
Dave Long, Club Chairperson, summed up - “Our aim is to provide excellent coaching to all our players to help them develop and enjoy the success of realising their full potential and we now have the club structure in place to make that aim a reality. There is a clear pathway for our junior players to move into adult football when they become 16.”
