Women’s First Team Vs Rise Park Ladies FC

Arnold Town Ladies started the season in disapointing fashion tonight with a 4-1 defeat at home to Rise Park. Arnold were put under pressure early on and conceded the first goal after 6 minutes when a ball into the area wasnt cleared and the opposition forward given time to pick her spot into the far corner.

The Eagles tried to get back into the game but whilst they tried to compose themselves, they were hinded with players having to play out of position, or who were playing whilst suffering with illness. With this in mind it was easy to see why Rise Park went into the half time break having notched 2 more goals to give them a convincing 3-0 lead.

A couple of changes were made at half time which saw Chloe Jordan make her senior debut replacing the captain Jen Lorimer who was suffering through illness. Molly Parker also entered the game replacing Shantay Wright up front to try and inject some pace along side Natasha Leach.

The second half brought new belief and with Arnold trying to keep the ball for longer periods, Laura Coulthard replayed the fact she took over the captains arm band with a cool finish at the back post to bring the home side back into the game. With the score at 1-3 the next 30 minutes were fairly uneventful other than a stunning save by Ellie Roache, turing a powerful shot on the turn, on to the post and away to safety. The pressure finally paid off and Rise got their forth of the game with a scrappy finish following good wing play from their right.

Lots of positives to take away from the game as well as areas that will need working on quickly. FA cup action on Sunday is the perfect time to notch the first win of the season.
